On the evening of January 6, 2017, the men and women of Recruit Class #55 walked across the stage, graduating from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire Academy. This is a months-long process, preparing recruits for their career as a Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic. They spend hundreds of hours training both physically and mentally, preparing to be the best that they can be to serve the community.

One of Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department’s very own was one to walk the stage last night, Mr. Nathan Smith. Prior to recruit school, Nathan had already made us proud as he showed us his strengths when going through Firefighter class, EMT class, out on emergency calls and even helping around the station. You will not find a more dedicated, caring soul to fill a fireman’s boots than Nathan. From all of the Officers and Members of WBVFD, we wish you strength, knowledge, courage and bravery as you start your journey on the career side of the department. And know that you will always have a home here at Station 2.
