Eight patients were transported from a multiple vehicle collision in Harwood on Saturday afternoon. Just after 12:30 p.m.firefighters were dispatched to the area of the 4300 block of Solomons Island Road for a vehicle collision with reported patients trapped and ejected. Based on information from the initial 911 calls a Maryland State Police Helicopter was requested prior to the arrival of firefighters. Firefighters arrived to find a four vehicle accident with two patients trapped. Both patients were extricated in about 25 minutes. A second helicopter was requested to the scene due to three patients requiring referral to trauma centers. One helicopter transported two adults, a 36 year old female and a 60 year old female to Shock Trauma with serious, but not believed life threatening injuries. A second helicopter transported a 1 year old to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center with serious, but not believed life threatening injuries. Five additional patients were transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.
