Personnel of the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department , Station 2, were alerted to a possible assault in the 100 Block of Mitchells Chance Rd. Units arrived on location to find an adult male suffering a traumatic head injury. Crews immediately began evaluating the patient. Due to the extent of the patients injuries a MSP Helicopter was subsequently requested for transport. The patient was then transported by ground to South River High School where he was flown to the University of Maryland, R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma.
The WBVFD would like to also remind citizens to avoid helicopter landing zones when they take place. Increased spectators on scene can pose additional risk to providers and the safe transfer of patient care. Vehicle headlights also make it very difficult for pilots to safely land a helicopter while utilizing night vision safety equipment. Because of these increased risk, we kindly ask citizens to avoid the area.
