THIS IS A COPY OF THE PRESS RELEASE BY THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
On January 14, 2016 at approximately 5:23 p.m., officers responded to a motorcycle crash on Selby Blvd at 5th Street in Edgewater. The motorcycle was southbound on Selby Blvd when it struck a Hummer westbound on 5th Ave. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected from the motorcycle and also struck the Hummer. He was transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The driver of the Hummer was not injured.
Witnesses reported the Hummer stopped at his stop sign and also that the motorcycle was seen driving at a high rate of speed shortly before the crash so the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. A contributing circumstance was the darkness and limited street lighting. Alcohol does not appear to be involved and the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation. Any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.
