1541 hours, Sunday, October 27, 2019- Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department received a 911 call for the reported structure fire in the 1600 block of Chesapeake Lane. Multiple calls to 911 indicated that a large column of smoke could be seen and that there may have been an explosion. Units arrived on scene to find a single story dwelling with heavy fire conditions on side Delta and had rapidly spread throughout the structure. WBVFD crews were joined by several other departments and took approximately 40 minutes to get the fire under control. The official cause of the fire has not been determined, however the homeowner states that he was working on a generator at the time the fire started. The family of four is being assisted by the Red Cross and multiple neighbors and family members. No injuries to the occupants or firefighters were reported. One family pet was lost in the fire and the rest were accounted for.
