Lakeview Ave Boat Fire 11/12/21
At approximately 8:07 pm on the evening of November 12, 2021 Woodland Beach VFD received the call to respond to the 400 block of Lakeview Avenue in Beverly Beach for the reported boat fire. Fire Alarm indicated there were multiple 911 callers reporting explosions and fire showing and the possibility of the owner on board.
Multiple water and land based units were dispatched to respond including Engine 2-2, Boat 2, Boat 41, Battalion Chief 3, Shift Commander, several other units from stations 1, 8, 19, Annapolis, and fire marshal.
Units arrived on location to find an approximately 25′ vessel completely involved, drifting from the pier. Neighbors expressed concern that the owner was on board due to the presence of the owner’s golf cart by the pier, however, the owner was not on board and the vessel was unoccupied.
The location of this incident is in a cove type area with many other piers and vessels and there was concern for exposure to other vessels. The boat drifted and was assisted towards the shore across from the pier, reducing that threat of exposure. The fire was extinguished using both water and foam.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and estimated value of the loss of property is undetermined at this time
