Prom Promise: Make It and Take It Seriously
On April 29, 2023, South River High School hosted their annual Prom Promise vehicle crash demonstration which we were proud to be a part of. The combined crews of Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department volunteer and career staff assisted in showing the tragedy that can occur from drunk or otherwise impaired driving.
Prom Promise is a program aimed at preventing impaired driving among high school students, particularly during prom season. The program encourages students to make a promise not to drink and drive on prom night and to encourage their peers to do the same.
Driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is a serious issue that can result in tragic consequences. Impaired driving puts not only the driver but also passengers, other drivers, pedestrians, and other road users at risk of injury or death.
In addition to the physical risks, impaired driving can also have legal consequences, including fines, license suspension, and even jail time. These consequences can impact not only the driver but also their families and loved ones.
We care a great deal about our community, youth and young adults. Your life is precious and you are our future! So please, make that vow to be safe and be smart on prom night and every night!
